Then, you call Department of Public Safety’s (DPS) non-emergency line (213-740-6000 on UPC or 323- 442-1200 on HSC) to request the room to be unlocked. Since you have locked yourself out of your office more times than you care to remember, you have DPS number on speed-dial in your cell phone. The dispatcher gives you a wait time of up to one hour. While you are waiting for the students to arrive, you discover that the room next door is open and empty. You decide to hold class in that room until the door next door can be opened. You leave a note on the door of the actual classroom explaining that you are next door and you keep your eye out for DPS officers.
